About REED
Using AIDA (artificially intelligent dialogic reading aid) technology, we have developed the REED (read, engage, explore, discuss) app to empower shared book reading between caregivers and their preschool-aged children.
Meet Turner

He reads with you
Turner listens to your reading and keeps track of where you are in the book.

He keeps track of your reading activity
Turner makes sure you're hitting all of your reading goals by saving your favorite books and time spent reading.

He generates questions to spark conversation
Turner suggests dialogic reading questions to improve your child's reading comprehension skills.
Your privacy
Protecting users
REED only listens when the app is on and a children's book has been selected for a reading session. User data is never shared and, indeed, never leaves the user's personal device.
Protecting authors and publishers
Book transcripts and illustrations are stored on a protected server. All questions are generated within this protected server.
No information about the books is retained by our algorithm for generating questions.
REED app users are not able to access internal book content or question banks directly. They must have their own copy of a book in order to be prompted with questions about it.
Our sponsors
With support from Vanderbilt University, including the LIVE Learning Innovation Incubator and the Wond’ry Center for Innovation, the National Science Foundation (Grant 2349210), and strong connections to community organizations and nonprofits, we are uniquely positioned to transform early literacy support through innovation, expertise, and a shared dedication to impact.
